Paxton is 6 months!

I have totally been slacking on the blogging for the last month, so this post is late.  Paxton is actually 6 1/2 months old now.  I can't believe that half a year has already passed since he was born!  I am so grateful that this sweet little boy came to live with us.  My life is so much richer with him in it, even though he's still a baby.  I can't imagine life without my little Monkey Man!

So now that I've made myself cry, I'll move on.  At 6 months, Paxton:

- has grown out of pretty much all of his 6 month clothes.  He's now wearing 9-12 month stuff.  I really hope that he starts crawling soon so that he'll stay in this stuff for a while.  I actually phoned Kelly the other day to see if she's bringing me more clothes when she comes down for July 1st since I'm starting to run out!  The situation isn't dire yet, but if Paxton keeps growing like this it will be!  Oh well, I guess it's a good reason for shopping!

- has no lips.  Well, they're still there, but his new favorite "trick" is to suck both of his lips into his mouth.  It looks really funny because then he usually will try to smile so he looks like an old man without his dentures in (no offense, Dad!).

- has officially entered the phase where he likes to grab everything (especially paper) and then put it in his mouth.  It makes me laugh most of the time because he does it in slow motion.  He'll grab something and then slowly try to put it in his mouth, almost like he's waiting to see if I'll stop him.  However, when I'm on the phone, or at the bank, or in line at the grocery store it doesn't make me laugh.  Other people laugh though.  Hmmmm.

- can almost sit up by himself.  We still have to prop him up in the corner of a chair or the couch, but he's getting closer to balancing himself without help.  In fact, when we went grocery shopping yesterday he sat in the cart and was able to hold himself up without our help!  But he did keep trying to chew on the shopping cart handle.  Gross.

- can roll over from his tummy to his back.  For the longest time he would only do it in his crib while no one was there, but he's started doing it in front of us this last week.  He's tried to go from his back to his tummy a few times, but no luck yet.

- is a very solid little boy.  I took him in for his shots on June 7th and he was tipping the scales at 18 lbs 8 oz.  Wow.

- still has no teeth.  But the drooling and chewing continue.  *Sigh*  At least we have a lot of bibs.

- loves to communicate through screeching.  Mom does not love this.  I'm pretty sure that our windows are in danger of shattering on a daily basis.  He especially likes to do it at his toys like he's cussing them out or something.

- is eating some solid food.  We started him on rice cereal about a month ago and he wasn't too sure about it at first, but he likes it now that I've figured out the right consistency.  We're going to try out some fruits and vegetables later today so we'll see how his palate is.

- has discovered his toes.  This is so very helpful now when I'm changing his diapers since he likes to hold his legs up in the air for me!  Not so helpful when he slams his foot down on the change table and gets it in the poopy diaper I've just removed.  Paxton's toes are his favorite "toy" when he sits in his Bumbo now.  Hours of entertainment.

Big smiles for Mom
First attempt at solid food.  I'm pretty sure we got more on his face than in his mouth.
Eating Mom's flowers from Mother's Day
Chunky legs!
"Helping" Dad play video games
I really like this spoon, Mom
2nd attempt at solid food.  Not much better.

Sleeping on Mom.  I can't believe how much he looks like Rhett in this picture!

Baby toes!

These are my keys.  I love them
Grabbin' the toes
Paxton was being really fussy while we were getting ready to leave for a softball tournament, so Jay stuck a washcloth on his head.  I think he was so surprised that he stopped fussing.
